De befaamde Hollywood-acteur werd bijna vermoord door een beer en sleepte daarna een dood paard in The Revenant. Wat ons betreft mag de man die hem niet won voor Titanic en The Wolf of Wallstreet het beeldje eind februari mee naar huis nemen. 

Verreweg de meeste nominaties zijn voor Spotlight, The Revenant, Mad Max: Fury Road en The Martian. The Revenant sleept maar liefst 12 Oscar nominaties binnen. DiCaprio is genomineerd voor Best Actor samen met Matt Damon, Michael Fassbender, Bryan Cranston en Eddie Redmayne. Voor Best Actress zijn Cate Blanchett, Brie Larson, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlotte Rampling en Saoirse Ronan genomineerd.
